Reporting to the Engineering Manager
Key deliverables:
- To produce design layouts, calculations and analysis ensuring gearbox designs are fit for purpose and meet customers specification requirements agreed, for standard epicyclic, parallel shaft and combination gearboxes.
- To produce detailed manufacturing drawings, create specifications for bought out equipment and generate Bill Of Materials on IBS
- To create concept design layouts for tendering of new projects including calculations to ensure proposal is fit for purpose and meets customer’s specification requirements.
- To liase with customers and suppliers throughout tender/design stage.
- To create clearly documented design files with all relevant design calculations and analysis data for ease of reference by others.
- To assess new and existing gearbox design integrity, so as to minimize risk to contract and manufacturing, whilst maximising performance and operating efficiency.
- To ensure all engineering data delivered is accurate, to agreed programme schedules and budgets set, whilst following quality practices to eliminate design NCR issues at source.
- To actively participate in the development of in-house standards to maximise design standardisation and automation
- To deputise for other members of the Engineering team in their absence
Other duties:
- Provide decision making support to all areas of AGSL.
- Perform any other duties as requested by your manager.
Typical qualifications required:
- Time served apprentice with HNC in mechanical Engineering or experience equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years design engineering experience inn rotating equipment – manufacturing environment, including knowledge/use of ANSYS, MathCAD, Pro – E.
