Summary of Role
The purpose of this role is to plan new job start-up from receipt of order to customer approval.
Resolve and improve yield problems on new and existing production parts. Work with the production management team to ensure customer satisfaction. Manage, motivate, and develop direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- New part introduction to agreed timescales
- Customer liaison on engineering issues
- Product engineering for new and existing parts
- Management and motivation of engineering staff and resources, including the first stage of the disciplinary and grievance procedure
- To authorise process documents/batch cards/inspection method sheets upon completion
- To ensure completion and creation of all process documentation to a high standard
- Provide engineering support to production
- To sign off and construct bills of material and process routings for new and existing products.
- Tooling modifications and repairs.
- Ordering and design of grinding fixtures, reformers and matrix blocks
- Champion continuous improvement – using statistical tools and improving using best practice methods.
- Project Management
- Supervision of direct reports
Education and Experience:
- Preferred Degree in Mechanical and or Production Engineering,
- HNC / HND in an engineering discipline
- Injection Moulding experience is desirable
- Ability to make decisions for economic benefit of the company
- Have previous experience of managing a team
- Preferred knowledge of the investment casting industry and core manufacture
- Experience of working in a fast moving dynamic environment
- Knowledge and experience of working in growth hi tech markets such as Medical, Aerospace
- Preferred Knowledge of ceramic processes and products
